Lexus SC transmission fault

I've got a 2003 Lexus SC with a gasoline engine and 181150 km on the clock. Lately, I've been experiencing some transmission issues. The engine warning light is on, and there's also a transmission warning light. The error memory indicates a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. The gearbox is in emergency mode, and I've noticed some slipping and unclean shifting, along with occasional grinding noises. Could a low gearbox oil level really be the culprit here?

I have an SC as well. While not the same year, I had similar symptoms a while back. Did you check the oil sensor or the pressure switch? What's the pressure gauge reading?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked those specifically. I was mainly focused on the oil level due to the slipping. Where exactly is the oil sensor located, and is it easy to check the pressure switch without specialized equipment?

Honestly, given the emergency mode and grinding, I'd advise against driving it too much. It's probably best to take it to a workshop to avoid further damage to the transmission. It could still be the sensor, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it turned out the gearbox oil level was indeed too low, causing the pressure sensor fault. Got it sorted for 365€ Appreciate the input!
