Lexus UX Brake Light Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Lexus UX owner experienced a consistent brake light failure and error message, suspecting the brake light switch as the cause. Another person suggested checking the brake pedal return spring, but the issue was ultimately traced to improperly installed aftermarket floor mats obstructing the brake pedal's full return. Removing the obstruction resolved the problem without any cost.

Thanks! It's happening consistently. I didn't think about the return spring. What fixed it for you?

Mine was the switch itself. Like a light switch wearing out in your house. If you're comfortable, test the switch with a multimeter. Otherwise, a shop might be the way to go. Good luck!

Thanks for the confirmation and the advice. Turns out it was the brake light switch, but because I messed up installing aftermarket floor mats. They stopped the brake pedal from fully returning. No money spent, just removed the obstruction. Thanks again!

I had something similar on my UX recently. Is it happening all the time, or just now and then? Have you had a look at the brake pedal return spring? A weak spring can sometimes act like a bad switch.
