Corrosion? I took a quick peek, but I didn't really focus on that. Where exactly on the connector did you find the corrosion? Was it obvious, or did you have to really dig in to see it?

It was tricky to spot at first. It was inside the connector itself, where the wires crimp onto the metal pins. It was enough to mess with the signal but not obvious just by looking at the outside of the connector. I ended up taking it to a workshop where they changed the sensor and the cable, and it cost me 95€. If you are unsure, I would head to a workshop before you make it worse.

Thanks a bunch for the insight! I took a closer look at the connector like you suggested, and you were spot on! There was corrosion hidden inside. I cleaned it up as best I could. Since cleaning it up did not solve the issue I took it to my local repair shop, and they confirmed the camshaft sensor itself was faulty and also replaced the cable due to corrosion. All good now!

That sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my 2018 Volvo XC60. Same symptoms: rough starts, power loss, and an error code pointing to a sensor. In my case, it was a corroded connection to the sensor. Did you check for corrosion or just whether the plug was connected?
