Lexus UX Engine Stalling Fuel Level Sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Lexus UX is experiencing engine stalling and a check engine light, with an OBD2 error code indicating a fuel level sensor issue. Despite the fuel gauge functioning normally, the problem persists, suggesting the sensor might still be faulty. Initial troubleshooting included checking fuses, which were fine, leading to the decision to seek professional diagnosis. The workshop confirmed the fuel level sensor was the issue and replaced it, resolving the problem.

Thanks. I will inspect the fuses related to the fuel system. The fuel gauge seems to be functioning normally, displaying the correct fuel level. Is it possible that a defective fuse could cause the engine to stall, even if the gauge reads correctly?

Well, the fuel gauge working doesn't totally rule out the sensor being the problem. The gauge and the ECU get fuel level data from the same sensor, but they use the data differently. If the fuse is fine, and the stalling continues, you're probably looking at a sensor replacement. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd just take it to a reliable workshop to properly diagnose before throwing parts at it.

Thanks. I checked the fuses, but they appear to be in good condition. Given the engine stalling issue, I decided to take the vehicle to a workshop for professional diagnosis. They confirmed it was the fuel level sensor and replaced it. The repair cost 52€.

Huh, that's odd. I had a similar issue with my UX a while back. Check your fuses first; it might be something simple. Although, stalling at idle seems a bit more serious than just a faulty fuel sensor reading. Is the fuel gauge acting erratically too?
