I haven't used a scanner yet. What do you mean by "state of my vehicle emissions"? I hope it's not too bad...

I mean have you noticed changes like decreased fuel efficiency, rough idling, or a strong fuel smell? If you're not familiar with checking the exhaust back pressure sensor, I'd recommend a qualified technician. The sensor's location and potential for damage could make it tricky to DIY.

Appreciate the insight! Sounds like a workshop visit is needed. Got a quote of 245€ for the exhaust sensor including repair. Off to the shop!

The smoke on acceleration and warning light do suggest an exhaust back pressure sensor issue. Have you scanned for error codes? What's the state of your vehicle emissions otherwise?
