Lexus UX Intake Air Temperature Sensor Issue

Hi, I have a 2019 Lexus UX with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on. I also noticed a drop in engine power and the engine runs rough now. I used a diagnostic tool and it shows an error related to the intake air temperature sensor. Any ideas what could be wrong?

It sounds like the intake air temperature sensor is likely the culprit, especially given the symptoms and the error code. The intake air temperature sensor measures the temperature of the air entering the engine. This information is crucial for the engine control unit (ECU) to calculate the correct air-fuel mixture. A faulty sensor can cause the ECU to miscalculate, leading to reduced power and rough running. Have you checked the wiring to the sensor for any damage?

Thanks for the quick reply! I did a quick visual inspection of the wiring, but didn't notice anything obvious. What should I be looking for specifically when checking the wiring?

Given your symptoms and the diagnostic code, combined with the visual inspection coming up empty, the sensor itself is likely defective. While thorough wiring checks are useful, a faulty sensor is common with these symptoms. Since you're experiencing drivability issues, I recommend taking your Lexus to a trusted workshop for a proper diagnosis and sensor replacement.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop and they confirmed it was the intake air temperature sensor. Replacement cost me 155€. Runs like new now!
