Lexus UX Lean Running Issue

I'm having a lean running issue with my 2020 Lexus UX gasoline engine. It has 82890 km. I've noticed a reduction in engine power, the check engine light is on, and the engine runs rough, especially jerking when accelerating. Could a defective injection valve/injector cause this?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Lexus UX is experiencing a lean running issue, characterized by reduced engine power, a check engine light, and rough engine performance, particularly jerking during acceleration. The problem is suspected to be caused by a defective fuel injector. Suggestions include checking the mass air flow sensor, air-fuel ratio, oxygen sensor, and catalytic converter. Ultimately, the issue was confirmed to be a defective fuel injector, which was repaired professionally.

That sounds frustrating! I have a UX too, and I had similar symptoms a while back. Did you check the mass air flow (MAF) sensor or maybe the air-fuel ratio? It could also be the oxygen sensor playing up. I'm just throwing ideas out there, but those were the first things that came to mind when my check engine light popped on. Has the catalytic converter been checked?

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't checked those specifically. When you had the issue, did the check engine light come on immediately, or did it take a while? Was the jerking constant, or intermittent?

The check engine light was pretty immediate for me. The jerking was definitely intermittent at first, but it got worse over time. Honestly, after a while, I just bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly. Might be worth getting it looked at professionally if you're not seeing any obvious issues yourself.

Appreciate the insights! I'll take your advice and get it checked out by a professional. Turns out it was a defective fuel injector, as suspected. Cost me 515€ to repair. Thanks again for the help!
