Lexus UX rough running exhaust smell
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Lexus UX with high mileage is experiencing rough running, an exhaust smell, and a check engine light. The issues could be due to a faulty NOx sensor or EGR valve, but a defective lambda (oxygen) sensor is identified as the cause. Replacing the lambda sensor resolves the problem.

Yeah, the fuel economy seems a bit worse than usual. You mentioned oxygen sensor - do you think it's more likely that than, say, the catalytic converter?

In my case, it turned out to be a defective lambda sensor, so the oxygen sensor. Like a faulty thermostat, it was messing with the whole system. But it is best you go to the workshop to make sure.

Thanks for the info! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. It was a defective lambda sensor. Repair cost me 375€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my UX. Rough running, exhaust smell... did you also notice any difference in fuel economy? Have you checked the exhaust pipe for visible damage or leaks around the oxygen sensor?
