Lexus UX Solar Sensor Fault

I'm experiencing a perplexing issue with my 2022 Lexus UX electric, which has about 209501 km on it. I'm getting a solar sensor fault error stored. This seems to be impacting the heating output, as it's noticeably lower than usual. Could this be a simple issue, or a more complex problem within the climate control system? Is it unusual for a sensor to be faulty?

I had a similar situation with my 2018 Volvo XC60. Although different make and model, the symptoms mirror yours – a sensor fault affecting climate control performance. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the sensor? A defective connection can cause issues like this.

Thanks for sharing that. Where exactly is the solar sensor located in the Lexus UX? Also, if the connection seems fine, what would you suggest as the next step?

In my Volvo, the solar sensor was on the dashboard near the windshield. If the connections appear secure, the sensor itself might be faulty. Before replacing it, I'd recommend a workshop visit for a proper diagnosis using specialized tools. I recommend avoiding touching sensors and calibrations yourself.

I appreciate your advice; it's been most helpful. I followed your suggestion and had the vehicle examined at a workshop. A cable connection to the solar sensor was indeed defective, as you predicted. Repairing it cost me 95€. Thanks again!
