LFA Electronic Parking Brake Failure
Summary of the thread
The electronic parking brake on a 2012 Lexus LFA is non-functional, displaying an error code and warning light. The suspected cause is a defective electric motor in one of the rear brake calipers. Another individual experienced similar issues, suggesting checking the brake switch as a potential simple fix. However, the initial assessment of a failed motor in the caliper was confirmed, leading to the decision to proceed with its replacement.

Could you elaborate on 'acting up intermittently'? What specific symptoms did you observe, and did you perform any diagnostics on the brake switch to confirm its proper operation? Were there any unusual sounds emanating from the rear caliper area prior to the complete failure?

Intermittent as in, sometimes it would engage, sometimes it wouldn't. No sounds, just random failure. Didn't do any proper diagnostics myself, just took it to the workshop. They said it was the motor in the caliper. Good luck.

It appears my initial assessment was correct; the motor within the caliper has indeed failed. I shall proceed with the replacement as suggested. Your input has been invaluable in confirming the likely cause and providing the impetus to move forward with the repair.

I had something similar happen with my LFA. Though mine wasn't throwing codes initially, the parking brake was acting up intermittently. Have you checked the brake switch itself? It might be a simple fix before tearing into the caliper.
