LFA Engine Jerking Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Lexus LFA is experiencing reduced power, jerking during acceleration, and smoke, accompanied by an error code. The issue may be due to combustion chamber deposits affecting fuel octane or ignition. A faulty knock sensor is also considered a potential cause, as it might not be detecting issues properly. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected at a workshop, where they can check the combustion chamber and address any deposits or sensor issues.

The jerking and power loss are most noticeable during harder acceleration, yes. I've noticed no unusual noises; however, I'm uncertain if I would recognize 'detonation.' Could a faulty knock sensor cause these symptoms even without prominent noises?

Yeah, mine didn't have really loud noises, just felt rough. It could be the knock sensor is lazy and not reporting things properly. Honestly, with those symptoms and the mileage, you're probably best off taking it to a workshop. They can check the combustion chamber directly.

Understood. Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate the recommendation to get it checked at a workshop. Hopefully the error codes will give some useful info. My local workshop identified deposits in the combustion chamber, leading to knocking combustion. Repair cost is 425€. Thanks for the support.

Hey, I had something similar on my LFA. Was it happening often, especially when the engine was working hard? I was thinking maybe the knock sensor was shot? It felt like the engine was fighting itself. Any weird noises, like detonation?
