LFA Engine Stalling

My 2010 Lexus LFA with a gasoline engine is exhibiting some troubling symptoms at 220282 km. The engine won't start sometimes, stalls when idling, and the check engine light is now constantly on. I've also noticed rough running and higher fuel consumption. I scanned it and found an error code. Suspect a defective fuel pump or maybe just a bad connection.

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Lexus LFA is experiencing engine stalling, rough idling, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The suspected causes include a defective fuel pump or a bad connection. After checking, it was found that a corroded connector was the issue, which was resolved by cleaning, leading to the car running smoothly again.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I also own an LFA, and I had similar issues last year. Engine stalling is no fun, right? When you say 'bad connection', are you talking about the wiring harness connector to the fuel pump? That can cause all sorts of weirdness because the fuel pump isn't getting the right voltage. Have you checked the fuel pump relay, or measured the voltage at the pump itself?

I haven't checked the relay yet, but will. When you had this issue, was it also intermittent? Did the car eventually just refuse to start completely? How did you fix it?

Yes, it started intermittently, with occasional stalls. Eventually, it just wouldn't start at all some days. I'm not a mechanic myself, so I took it to a reputable workshop. They diagnosed it as a faulty connection – corrosion, I believe. Honestly, with those symptoms and that mileage, a professional diagnosis is probably a good idea. Especially if you're not super comfortable troubleshooting electrical issues. It's better to be safe than sorry with a car like ours!

Thanks for the advice. I checked the connections and you were right, it was a corroded connector. Cleaned it up and the car runs fine again. Cost me 95€ for some contact cleaner. I appreciate the help!
