LFA Rain-Light Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Lexus LFA owner experienced issues with the rain-light sensor, causing automatic wipers and headlights to malfunction, along with problems in speedometer dimming. The problem was identified as bubbles forming under the gel pad of the sensor on the windshield, which is a common issue due to degradation over time. The solution involved replacing the gel pad and recalibrating the sensor, which resolved the issues.

Bubbles, you say? I haven't specifically looked for that... where exactly should I be peering? And if I do spot those pesky bubbles, what does that even MEAN? Am I doomed to manually control my wipers forever?

Check right around where the sensor is mounted on the inside of the windshield. If you see bubbles, that's likely the culprit. The gel pad degrades over time. I’d suggest getting it checked by a workshop, it's a fairly common problem, apparently.

Incredible! I checked, and you're spot on – tiny bubbles everywhere under that gel pad. Took it to my local Lexus shop, and they knew exactly what was up. 62€ later, new gel pad, recalibrated sensor, and everything's working perfectly again. Thanks a million for pointing me in the right direction!

Whoa, that sounds eerily familiar! I've got an LFA too, and I had similar issues a while back. No automatic wiping, lights acting up... Did you notice any bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield where the sensor sits?
