Linea Incorrect Fuel Composition Error

Guys, I'm pulling my hair out! I've got a 2019 Fiat Linea diesel with about 61k km on the clock. Lately, the check engine light keeps popping up, and sometimes it even stalls when I'm idling. I hooked it up to a scanner, and it's throwing an error about incorrect fuel composition. I've tried different fuel stations, thinking maybe it was bad fuel, but it's still happening. Could dodgy fuel be the problem, or is something else going on here?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Fiat Linea diesel owner experienced a persistent check engine light and occasional stalling, with a diagnostic error indicating incorrect fuel composition. Despite trying different fuel stations, the issue persisted, leading to concerns about fuel quality or other underlying problems. Suggestions included checking for fuel contamination, changing the fuel filter, and considering electrical faults. Ultimately, a mechanic identified and resolved a loose connection on a fuel injector, resolving the issue.

Incorrect fuel composition errors can be tricky. Have you noticed any changes in your fuel economy recently? When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? Also, are you certain there has been no accidental contamination of the fuel tank?

Fuel economy seems normal, maybe slightly worse, but nothing drastic. I haven't changed the fuel filter myself, it should have been done at the last service, but I didn't check. As for contamination, I haven't added anything other than diesel, but is there any way to be sure?

While fuel contamination or a clogged filter cannot be entirely ruled out, the error code and stalling suggest a more immediate electrical fault. The error memory points to a cable or plug connection issue with one of the fuel system components. Given the symptoms, it is advisable to consult a qualified workshop for a thorough diagnosis.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local mechanic, and it turned out to be a loose connection on one of the fuel injectors, just like you said. They cleaned it up and secured it properly. Cost me 95€, but at least it's fixed. Appreciate the help!
