Linea NOx sensor failure and exhaust smell
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Fiat Linea with a gasoline engine exhibited a check engine light and an exhaust smell, indicating a potential NOx sensor failure. The issue was suspected to be caused by a defective cable or plug connection. After consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that the problem was indeed a defective NOx sensor cable, which was repaired, resolving both the check engine light and the exhaust smell.

My Linea has about 105996 km on it. Did your Opel have similar symptoms like the exhaust smell? Was it also a NOx sensor issue, or something else entirely?

Yes, the exhaust smell was definitely there! It wasn't the NOx sensor specifically, but given your mileage and the symptoms, it could be a related issue. To be safe, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can run proper diagnostics to pinpoint the exact problem and give you a solid repair estimate.

Thanks a lot for your help and sharing your experience! I took your advice and went to the workshop. Turns out it was indeed a defective NOx sensor cable. Repair cost me around 95€. The check engine light is now off and the exhaust smell is gone!

I had something similar happen with my old Opel Astra. Check engine light, error codes pointing to the exhaust system. In my case it was the catalytic converter. How many kilometers are on your Linea?
