Livinia Overvoltage Error

I'm having a perplexing electrical issue with my 2009 Nissan Livinia with a gasoline engine. Only 40046 km on it. I'm getting an overvoltage error, with many fault memory entries. Systems are failing, battery is weak during starts, and there's a general electrical malfunction. Could this be a heavily discharged or defective battery?

I had a similar problem with my Livinia. Sounds like a power surge, only in reverse. Have you had your battery tested recently? How old is it? A failing battery can cause weird voltage fluctuations before it completely dies.

Thanks. I haven't tested the battery recently, but I think it's the original. Could a battery that old, even with low use, cause such a significant overvoltage issue?

Yes, an older battery can definitely cause those issues. Think of it like a dam that's starting to crumble. It might still hold water, but the structure is weakened, leading to unpredictable leaks and pressure changes. My issue turned out to be exactly that. Get it checked by a professional. The workshop found overvoltage caused by the defective battery in my case.

Thanks, that was very helpful. Based on your experiences and the symptoms, I brought my car to a workshop. They found the battery was indeed defective, causing the overvoltage. Replaced it for 290€.
