Looking for advice on cold start problems and battery weakness in Skoda Kodiaq 2019

Hello everyone, I'm struggling with my 2019 Skoda Kodiaq diesel engine and would like to hear your opinions and experiences. It has already run 32,609 km and has recently been showing longer cold start times, occasionally won't start at all and makes strange noises. In addition, the battery weakens when starting and the lights flicker from time to time. A warning light in the speedometer doesn't really tell me anything good either. After the last visit to the garage, I'm not feeling too good. Do you think it could have something to do with the starter motor? Thank you in advance for your support!

Hey, I can empathize with your anger. Something similar happened to me with my 2016 Skoda Yeti. I kept seeing a warning light in the speedometer and the car just wouldn't start. After a few unsuccessful attempts, I went to the garage. Unfortunately, the problem was quite serious. The mechanic explained to me that both the starter motor had to be replaced. The noises and the flickering of your lights could also indicate battery problems. My recommendation is to go to a decent garage as soon as possible. Sounds like a serious issue. Cheer up, buddy! Hopefully it won't be too serious.

Hey, thanks for your honest answer. That sounds really bad, hopefully it's not quite as bad on my Kodiaq. Can you remember how much you had to pay for the repair? And has a similar problem occurred again since then or is everything running smoothly now? Thanks and stay healthy!

Hey, sure, I still remember. The ground cable from the engine was defective, it cost €105 to repair. But since the visit to the mechanic, the fault with the engine start has fortunately been rectified and it now starts without any problems. So it was a one-off thing, I haven't had any problems since. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works for you too! Stay healthy too!

Hey, thanks for the important information. That does sound like a somewhat expensive, but nevertheless worthwhile investment. I'll probably make an appointment at the workshop as soon as possible. It really needs to be fixed. Have a nice day and stay healthy! See you then.
