Looking for advice: Functional restriction of windshield heating in diesel Renault Scenic (2007)

Hi everyone, I'm having some problems with my old 2007 diesel Renault Scenic (127604 km mileage) and need your advice. My windshield heater has stopped working and it seems that a fault has been stored. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience the last time I visited the garage. Have any of you had similar problems and could share your experiences with garages? I suspect it might have something to do with the windshield heating function restriction. Thank you in advance for your help and tips!

Summary of the thread

A 2007 diesel Renault Scenic has a non-functional windshield heater, with a fault stored in the system. The issue might be due to a defective heating element, as experienced by another Renault owner who had a similar problem. The suggested solution is to replace the heating element, which is a straightforward repair, though it may take time for parts to arrive. After replacement, the heating function should be restored, resolving the issue.

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Renault Megane, which is from 2004. The heating element of the windshield has also given up the ghost. The workshop visit last time showed that the heating element was simply defective and had to be replaced. The repair wasn't a big deal in itself, but unfortunately it took a while for the replacement part to arrive. So, don't let anyone tell you that it could be a big, complicated job. It was actually pretty simple and straightforward - the mechanic took out the old element and fitted the new one. Hope that helps you out. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your answer! It really doesn't seem to be rocket science, so that's reassuring. Do you happen to remember how much you paid to replace the heating element? And was anything else still spinning after the replacement? Looking forward to your feedback!

Hey, sure, no problem! So, replacing the heating element cost just under €585. Sure, that's not exactly a bargain, but what can you do, right? It made everything really nice and warm again, just as it should be. And the best thing about it - after my visit to the mechanic, the functional restriction of the windshield heating stopped. Everything is now running perfectly again. Hope that helps you!

Hey, great, thanks for the info! It's a bit expensive, but the main thing is to get my windshield warm again. After all, safety is the most important thing when driving, right? It's reassuring to know that everything worked smoothly again afterwards. I am now considering changing the heating element in my garage too. Your experience is a great help to me! Thanks again for your support!
