Looking for help: Problems with ABS/DSC system and transmission fluid in 2013 BMW 5 Series

Hey, I have a problem with my 2013 BMW 5 Series petrol car. The ABS/DSC system is acting up and I have the feeling that my transmission fluid might be gone. Do you have any experience with a problem like this and can you give me some troubleshooting tips? It would be important to know what experiences you have had with your workshop and how you solved the problem. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2013 BMW 5 Series is experiencing issues with the ABS/DSC system and potential transmission fluid problems. One possible cause could be undervoltage, especially given the car's mileage. It is suggested to check the battery and fuses, as a faulty relay might also be a culprit. Replacing the transmission fluid is advised if there's uncertainty about its condition, and professional inspection is recommended to prevent further complications.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello, I am not an expert, but I do have some experience with cars. I drive a similar car, a BMW 3 series petrol, built in 2011. I had a similar problem, but in my case it was the undervoltage in the car. Had to take my car to the garage. It cost me 240 euros, which was really annoying. Could you tell us a bit more about the condition of your car? Mileage, last oil change, etc.? That could help me give you more tips.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. My 5 Series already has a proud 102987 km on the clock. I recently changed the oil during the last inspection. Could it really be the undervoltage? I really don't know much about cars and don't want to spend unnecessary money at the garage.

Hi, it is absolutely possible that the problem with your car is also caused by the undervoltage, especially if your BMW has already covered a few kilometers. However, I'm not an expert and can't tell you for sure. I would recommend that you have your battery checked and maybe even the fuses. I once had a problem with the ABS (albeit in a different car) that was caused by a faulty relay. It's stupid, I know - nobody wants to spend money unnecessarily. But it's better to have everything checked to avoid any nasty surprises. A defective ABS/DSC can be really dangerous. And about the transmission fluid: replace it if you're unsure. It can never hurt. Best regards!

Thank you for the clear advice, I will take it into consideration. I can have the battery and the fuses checked at the next oil change. If the problem persists then I'll probably have to go to the garage. It's a shame that you always have to be careful about being ripped off. Thanks again for the help! Greetings back!

I have a 2009 e90 328i with code 578e. EGS: Gearbox oil wear. The code came on at 100,000 mls. I change trans oil and filter at 100,000 mls, and again with solenoid and rubber sleeves at 200,000 mls. The code wont go away. Im using an autel scan tool and it wont reset after trying to clear codes.
