Looking for solutions to engine problems with 2006 Mercedes Vito Diesel and recommendations for good mechanics

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2006 Mercedes Vito Diesel with 115464km mileage. The car has the following problems: Check Engine light is on, engine power is down, engine runs unevenly, jerks when accelerating, loud hissing when accelerating and vibrates when idling. I suspect a problem with the swirl flap control on the intake manifold. Do any of you have experience with such symptoms and can recommend a good mechanic, as I was not satisfied with the last one? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2009 Mercedes Vito. The fault was actually in the control of the shift intake manifold. I also had a loud hissing noise when accelerating and the engine power was throttled. I had to have this fixed in a workshop, where the control unit of the gearshift intake manifold was replaced. It was quite a job, but after that the engine ran like clockwork again. Unfortunately, I can't recommend a mechanic, but make sure you find someone who really knows what they're doing so that you don't have the same problem again. But don't worry, it's annoying, but not life-threatening for your Vito. Good luck with it!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! That really helps. Can you remember how much you had to pay for the repair? And were there any complications afterwards or has your Vito been running smoothly ever since? Thank you!

Hey, sure, no problem! The repair to the control unit of the shift intake manifold cost me exactly €465 at the time. Of course, that's not a lot of money, but what can you do, right? Since the visit to the car mechanic, the fault with the swirl flap control on the intake manifold has been rectified and my Vito has been purring like a kitten ever since. Fortunately, there have been no complications or further problems. I hope this helps you and your Vito will soon be fit again!

Hey, that's a big help, thank you very much! I don't like the idea of spending so much money, but I want my Vito to be in top shape again. Your reply reassures me that the problem will go away after the repair. Well, I'll keep looking around until I find a mechanic. Thanks again for the information and I hope my Vito will soon be purring like yours!
