Thanks. I haven't scanned for error codes yet. Could a faulty spark plug cause the same symptoms, and if so, how would I tell the difference between a spark plug issue and a coil failure?

Yes, degraded spark plugs can create similar symptoms, but usually the error code will give you a clue. A misfire from a faulty coil will often be consistent, whereas a spark plug misfire might be more intermittent. Given the mileage, if the spark plugs haven't been changed, it may be worth doing so as preventative maintenance. I took it to a trusted workshop as suggested. The diagnostic confirmed a defective ignition coil with a loose connection. The coil was replaced, and the connection secured, for 95€. The engine now runs smoothly. Thanks for the help.
