I did try the ignition cycling trick I found on another forum, but no luck. The defective cable/plug cause came from a generic OBD error code lookup site and a wiring diagram. Any suggestions on checking the cable or connection?

If the ignition cycling didn't work and you've checked sources pointing to wiring, it might be a deeper dive than I'm comfortable with. For something security-related like the alarm, and with potential wiring issues, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. You don't want to mess something up and make it worse. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Appreciate the input! I brought it to a trusted mechanic. It was indeed a corroded connector for the siren. They cleaned it and secured the connection. Total cost was 95€ Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

That's a bummer about the alarm. I haven't had that exact issue, but I've seen some weird electrical gremlins before. Have you tried a basic alarm reset? Some cars have a sequence of turning the ignition on and off that can clear temporary faults. Where did you see that a defective cable/plug is a likely cause?
