Low brake fluid and spongy pedal feel
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Mercedes A Klasse owner experienced a low brake fluid warning and a spongy brake pedal feel. The issue was suspected to be caused by worn brakes, which can lead to a drop in brake fluid levels. After checking the brake lines and considering a fluid replacement, it was confirmed that the worn brakes were indeed the main problem. The solution involved replacing the brakes and topping up the brake fluid, resolving the issue.

Brake lines look okay at a glance. Fluid replacement, huh? Would that really cause the spongy brake pedal feel though?

Yeah, brake fluid replacement was part of it. Turned out the worn brakes were the main culprit. The low fluid warning was on because of that. To be honest, with spongy hydraulic brakes, I wouldn't drive too much. Best get it to a workshop and have them check everything out properly.

Cheers, I appreciate the advice. Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Worn brakes were the issue, and they topped up the brake fluid after fitting new ones. Ended up costing 480€. Thanks again!

Strange brake pedal feel and low brake fluid? Sounds familiar. Do you happen to have the same model? I had something similar. Did you check the brake lines for leaks? Maybe it's just time for a fluid replacement.
