LX Microphone Failure

Hey, I'm facing a weird issue with my 2018 Lexus LX diesel. The hands-free microphone seems to have completely given up. Telephony is no longer possible. Has anyone experienced this before? The error memory stores some error, so I'm thinking it might be the infotainment system itself. Any ideas before I start tearing things apart?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Lexus LX diesel is experiencing a complete failure of the hands-free microphone, rendering telephony impossible. The issue may be related to the infotainment system, as the error memory stores some error, and even the built-in voice command system is unresponsive. A similar problem was resolved by diagnosing a defective infotainment unit, suggesting that a professional diagnostic check is advisable to confirm the cause and avoid unnecessary troubleshooting.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my LX, although I don't recall the exact error message. Was your audio system acting up in any other way? Did you notice any sound quality issues leading up to the microphone failure? It could also be a Bluetooth issue. Have you tried pairing a different phone to see if the problem persists?

Thanks for the quick response! No, the audio system seems perfectly fine otherwise. Music plays fine, navigation voice prompts are clear. It's just the microphone for calls. I thought about the Bluetooth angle, but even using the Lexus' voice command system (which I rarely use admittedly) doesn't work. The system doesn't 'hear' me. Could it still be related, even if the built-in voice control is dead too?

Yep, that sounds almost identical to what I went through. Given that even the built-in voice control is affected, it strengthens the theory of a deeper infotainment issue. In my case, it unfortunately turned out to be a defective unit. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop and having them diagnose it properly. Could save you a lot of headaches!

Thanks a lot! That's what I was afraid of. I had a feeling it was more than just a simple fix. I'll book it in for a diagnostic check. I feared that the repair cost will be about 815€, but I'll see what they say. Thanks again for confirming my suspicions!
