M Klasse antenna issues

I'm having some weird problems with my 2004 Mercedes M Klasse with a gasoline engine and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. It has 210633 km on it. I keep getting an error stored in the error memory related to what I think is the bumper antenna. The unlocking and locking is acting up and sometimes the engine won't start without the key in the ignition lock Could this all be related to the fm antenna I have read that the cable or plug connection of the component could be defective. Anyone else run into this

I had very similar symptoms in my M Klasse. The car radio would act erratically, losing radio signal, and the keyless entry was intermittent. Have you checked the antenna mount itself A loose or corroded automotive antenna connection can cause all sorts of havoc with the car's electronics.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't checked the antenna mount specifically. Where is it located and is it easy to access for inspection

On my car it was indeed the bumper antenna. The radio signal was weak, so I suggest you to take it to a workshop. As the cable is probably defective, the eventual repair cost should be around 95€. This fixed all of the issues you described.
