M Klasse Diesel Check Engine Light and Exhaust Issues

My 2006 Mercedes M Klasse diesel is throwing a check engine light I'm getting reduced engine power and a spike in fuel consumption I suspect the exhaust temperature sensor could a leak in the exhaust system cause this much engine management havoc

Sounds familiar I had a similar issue with my M Klasse it was the temperature sensor for sure Reduced power rings a bell Have you checked for any obvious signs of leaks in the exhaust system Sometimes it's subtle you gotta investigate

Subtle leaks I've given the usual spots a once-over Where should I be focusing my attention Is there a particularly finicky exhaust component that tends to go causing the temperature sensor to go nuts

Honestly I'm not expert enough to tell you exactly where But I found out about the leak only when I brought my car to the workshop They were able to pinpoint it quickly It was messing with the temperature sensor readings like crazy Made the engine management system really unhappy

Right workshop it is Thanks for the insight Turns out it was a small crack near the catalytic converter the shop found it pretty quick Replaced the temperature sensor while they were at it Total cost 265€ Engine's running smooth again and the check engine light is gone
