M Klasse oil level sensor problems
Summary of the thread
A 2004 M Klasse Diesel was experiencing oil level sensor issues, indicated by an oil pressure warning light and a faulty oil level sensor signal error. The problem was suspected to be related to the sensor connection. After checking the wires, it was advised to consult a mechanic to avoid further damage. The workshop identified and replaced a defective cable and plug connection, resolving the issue.

Yeah the oil pressure warning lamp lights up too. The error stored in the error memory is: Oil level sensor/oil level sensor signal faulty. Where exactly should I be looking for this cable or plug connection?

Okay, so it sounds like we had the exact same issue with the oil monitoring. Honestly, I fiddled with it for a bit, checking the wires I could easily see, but then I got frustrated and just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quick. I'd say if you are not 100% sure, just take it to your mechanic before you cause more damage. They should be able to diagnose if the oil sensor itself is bad

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a defective cable and plug connection, they have replaced it. Cost me 95€, so nothing too crazy. Glad it's sorted. Thanks again!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my M Klasse too, though I can't recall the exact year. Was getting a weird oil level warning. Is your oil gauge going nuts, and did the oil pressure warning light come on as well? I would check the sensor connection first. Where is the fault stored in the error memory?
