Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it was the door handle sensor. My situation sounds pretty similar to what you had. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks with the system?

Hey again! Happy to update you! After getting it fixed at the dealer, I paid exactly 390€ for the repair, which included replacing the defective door handle for the comfort access system. And I've got to tell you, it was totally worth every cent! Since that repair, the access system has been working like a charm. No more standing in the rain trying to get the door to unlock, or wondering if the car's actually locked when I walk away! It's been about a year now, and I haven't had a single problem with the system. It's working exactly like it did when the car was new. Honestly, it was such a relief to get it sorted. I know the dealer prices can be a bit steep compared to independent shops, but for these high-tech systems, I really think it's worth going to people who work on these cars day in, day out. They knew exactly what they were dealing with and got it sorted first time. Just make sure they check all the door handles while they're at it, might save you another trip down the line!

Thanks so much for all the details! Just got back from the dealer yesterday after taking your advice. You were spot on, it was indeed the door handle sensor unit causing all the trouble. Mine actually cost a bit more, around 450€, since they had to replace two handle sensors and do some extra programming. The whole experience wasn't as painful as I'd feared. Dropped it off in the morning, and they had it ready by late afternoon. The service advisor walked me through everything they did, and even showed me the corroded parts they replaced. Really glad I didn't try to save money by going to a regular mechanic. The dealer's techs knew exactly what they were doing, and now my Macan's working perfectly again, no more unusual lockouts or key fob drama! Thanks again for steering me in the right direction. Such a relief to have this sorted out properly. Time for a worry-free drive now!

Hey there, I actually had a similar issue with my 2019 Porsche Cayenne Diesel last winter. The comfort access was acting really weird, sometimes wouldn't recognize the key fob when I grabbed the handle, and other times wouldn't lock when I touched the sensor. Super frustrating, especially when you're in a hurry. Took it to my Porsche dealer's workshop, and they diagnosed it as a faulty door handle sensor unit. Apparently, moisture had gotten into the handle assembly and corroded some connections. They had to replace the entire handle unit and reprogram the access system. It wasn't a major mechanical issue, but definitely something that needed proper fixing by someone who knows these systems well. I wouldn't trust this repair to a regular mechanic, these access systems are pretty complex and need proper diagnostic tools. The dealer did a great job, and the system's been working flawlessly since. From what I understand, this is a known issue that pops up occasionally in Macans and Cayennes after they've done some miles. Hope this helps!
