Mach-E Audio System Failure

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. It's the electric version, and it's got about 53800 km on it. Suddenly, the audio system just died. No sound at all. The navigation is also not working, and I get an error message. I scanned it with an OBD scanner, and it shows an error related to the MOST bus. Anyone experience anything similar? I'm pulling my hair out here!

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E owner is experiencing a complete failure of the audio system and navigation, accompanied by an error message. An OBD scan indicates an issue with the MOST bus, a data network connecting various electronic components. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by replacing a faulty amplifier, suggesting that a single component failure can disrupt the entire system. The recommended solution is to consult a professional mechanic to diagnose and repair the issue, as attempting a DIY fix could lead to further complications.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds frustrating! I had a somewhat similar problem with my old BMW 5 series a while back. The iDrive system went completely bonkers. No audio, navigation was frozen, and the whole thing was just a mess. The dealer told me it was a MOST bus issue too. Seems like a fancy way of saying something in the data network is screwed.

Interesting! So, what exactly was the problem with your BMW? And how did you fix it? I'm trying to avoid a huge bill if possible, but I'm not sure where to even start looking.

Well, in my case, it turned out to be a faulty amplifier. Apparently, these things are all connected in a loop, and if one component fails, it can bring down the whole system. Honestly, unless you're super comfortable with car electronics, I'd suggest taking it to a reputable workshop. These MOST bus systems can be a real pain to diagnose, and you could end up causing more damage trying to fix it yourself. The error memory will lead the mechanic in the right direction. Expect to pay a few quid though - it cost me around 1000€.

Thanks a lot for the info! I was afraid of that. Sounds like it's beyond my limited skills. I'll take it to a trusted mechanic and have them check the control units on the MOST bus. Hopefully, it's just one faulty component. Just got a quote for around 1000€, so it will be expensive anyway. Thanks again!
