Thanks for the detailed explanation. My Dodge had almost identical symptoms, really glad to hear someone else confirmed it was the clutch switch causing all these problems. The safety mechanism kept engaging out of nowhere due to the faulty switch, which explains the stalling. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much the repair ended up costing? And has everything worked properly since getting it fixed? Just want to know what to expect before heading to the shop. The gear selector display issue is driving me crazy and I need to get this sorted.

Just had the Charger back from the shop last week and can confirm the clutch switch repair solved everything. The car starting issues and unusual stalling completely disappeared after they fixed the faulty switch connection. Total repair came to 95€ which covered troubleshooting and repairing the cable connection to the clutch safety switch. Much cheaper than I initially feared, considering all the electrical problems it was causing. All systems are working perfectly now, gear display is back to normal, cruise control functions as it should, and no more ignition problems. The mechanic mentioned these safety switch issues are fairly common and often get misdiagnosed as more complex electrical problems. Worth every cent to have it properly diagnosed and fixed rather than continuing to deal with unreliable car starting and unexpected stalling. The repair has been solid with zero issues since the faulty switch was repaired.

I took it to a specialized electrical repair shop yesterday based on the advice here. They diagnosed the exact same clutch switch problem that was mentioned. The electrical fault was indeed caused by worn wiring near the switch assembly. The final repair bill came to 120€, bit more than expected but still reasonable considering all the electrical gremlins it fixed. The mechanic showed me the damaged wiring harness and explained how the faulty switch was causing the gear selector display and ignition problems. Just drove it home and everything is working perfectly now. The gear display is alive again, cruise control is back, and most importantly, no more stalling or starting issues. Really glad I got this sorted instead of continuing to chase unusual electrical faults. The car feels completely normal again for the first time in weeks.

A defective clutch safety switch can definitely cause those starting and electrical issues. When working on a 2008 Charger last month, similar symptoms appeared, gear selector display not working, ignition problem, and stalling. The root cause was a damaged wiring harness near the brake and clutch switch assembly. Over time, the constant movement had worn through the protective covering, causing intermittent electrical faults. The system was shutting down as a safety measure. The repair required replacing the complete switch assembly and rewiring the connection to the transmission control module. While not a complex fix, accessing the components meant removing several interior panels. The faulty switch was triggering multiple error codes, which explains why initial diagnosis was challenging. This is a fairly serious issue since it affects core safety and drivability functions. Best to have it checked by a shop that specializes in electrical diagnostics. They should focus on testing the clutch switch circuit and inspecting the surrounding wiring harness for damage. The symptoms match perfectly with a failing brake/clutch safety switch system. Having it properly diagnosed and repaired will likely resolve all these electrical gremlins at once.
