Malfunction of the gear indicator and warning light in the VW Roc T

Hi, I have a problem with my VW Roc T with a gasoline engine and a few kilometers on the clock. The gear indicator in the speedometer does not work and the warning light in the car's speedometer lights up. I assume that it could be due to a malfunction of the clutch pedal. Has anyone had similar experiences? I'm a bit worried about this. Thanks for your help!

Summary of the thread

The gear indicator and warning light malfunction in a VW Roc T may be due to a faulty clutch pedal switch. This issue can affect the vehicle's operation, as experienced by another driver with a similar problem in a VW Golf. The suggested solution is to have a mechanic inspect and potentially replace the clutch pedal switch, which resolved the issue in the Golf.

I know exactly what you mean. I had a similar problem with my VW Golf, only three years older than yours. During one of my last visits to the garage, the warning lights came on and the gear indicator didn't work either. The mechanic found that the switch on the clutch pedal had given up the ghost. This was actually quite a serious problem as it affected the whole operation of the vehicle. The way you describe it, it seems to be the same problem. Hope this helps you!

Hey, it's amazing how similar our problem is. Can you remember how much all that fun ended up costing you? It would be great if you could remember. And has anything else happened since then, or has the repair solved the problem and your Golf is now running smoothly again? Looking forward to your answer!

Hey, so after the mechanic fixed the clutch pedal switch, my Golf is running like clockwork. Everything is tip-top! The repair was no mean feat, I really gulped when he told me that the engine control unit was faulty. That cost me around €1000. But hey, at least now I know it was worth it and I can drive around again without any worries. So, don't panic, don't worry. Everything will be fine!

Thank you, your help really means a lot to me! Yes, it sounds like a costly repair, but if it gets everything running again, I guess it's worth the money. It's always good to hear that other people have gone through similar problems and turned out okay. I will definitely see a mechanic and see what they say. I just hope I'm as lucky as you and my Roc T is like new again afterwards. Thanks again for your help and good advice!
