Malfunctions in the park distance system and electrical malfunctions in the 2016 BMW 4 Series petrol engine

Hey guys, I have something on my 2016 BMW 4 Series gasoline engine, which has already done 159134 km, which makes me wonder and worry. The park distance system is acting up, there are general electrical malfunctions, errors are stored and this warning light in the speedometer is on. I have the feeling it has something to do with the parking aid. Have any of you had similar experiences and can tell me how your mechanic solved it? Unfortunately, I had no luck with my garage last time. Any potential advice is very welcome! Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

The 2016 BMW 4 Series petrol engine is experiencing malfunctions in the park distance system and general electrical issues. A similar problem was resolved by replacing the control unit for the driver assistance system. Another suggestion was to check the PDC sensor for vibrations to determine if it's functioning correctly. If not, replacing the sensor could solve the issue.

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2014 BMW 3 Series. The warning light in the speedometer was also constantly on and my infotainment system was acting up. After driving around like that for a while, I took it to the garage. It turned out that there was quite a mess with the vehicle electronics. The main problem was the control unit for the driver assistance system. After they replaced it, everything ran like clockwork again. So it's possible that you could have something similar. Have a look to see if that could be the problem. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your reply! Interesting that you had a similar experience. Can you remember how much you ended up having to pay when the control unit was replaced? And were there any other incidents after that or was the problem solved for good after that? Thanks again for your help!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! Well, I had to fork out €355 to fix the parking aid control unit. Maybe it's similar for you, no guarantee, but it could be. And since I've been to the mechanic, the problem with the faulty parking aid has disappeared. In short, I haven't had any further incidents since. So I would suggest you get it checked out. That can only help, can't it? Hope that solves your problem too!

Hey, thanks for the info! 355€ doesn't sound so bad if the problem is really gone afterwards! Your words really give me hope. I will definitely go to another garage and have the parking aid control unit checked. Let's see if that's the problem for me too. Thanks for your suggestion and support! I will keep you up to date.

Hello, I also had a problem with the PDC sensor, but it was really only the beeps that didn't work for me. You can check them relatively easily by engaging reverse gear and placing a finger on the sensor. If the sensor is OK you will notice a very slight vibration, if the sensor is defective you won't notice anything. I didn't notice anything with one sensor, so I thought the sensor must be defective. I then checked the sensor plug, which was ok. So I ordered a new sensor and installed it, since then everything has been ok again.

Carly indicated a fault with the rear right parking aid. This was changed. Approx. 1 week later, the parking aid is not working again. Carly shows nothing

What could be the error?
