I haven't checked the intake duct yet, but that's a good idea. About the codes, could it be related to a defective cable or plug connection?

Yeah, a bad connection could definitely cause those symptoms and trigger the sensor error. Given the hissing sound, though, it might be more than just a loose wire. If you're not comfortable digging in, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop.

Thanks. Turns out it was a defective cable connection as suspected. Workshop charged me 95€ to fix it.

I have a Malibu too, and I had similar symptoms. Check Engine light, whistling. Was it throwing any specific codes related to airflow or intake air temperature? Did you check the air intake duct for any obvious cracks or loose connections?
