Malibu gasoline power loss hissing noise

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2013 Chevrolet Malibu gasoline (41903 km). Recently, the check engine light came on, and I've noticed a significant reduction in engine power. The engine response is poor, sometimes it even stalls at idle. Fuel consumption has also increased, and there's this distinct whistling noise, turning into a loud hissing when I accelerate. I suspect a bad boost pressure system, possibly a defect in the wastegate valve. Has anyone experienced similar? I've checked the MAP sensor, but it seems fine. Could it be the intercooler? Any thoughts on boost control issues?

I had a similar issue with my Malibu. Check engine light, reduced power, the whole shebang. Is the hissing constant, or only under acceleration?

The hissing is definitely more pronounced when accelerating. At idle, it's more of a faint whistle. Did you ever figure out what the problem was on your Malibu? Did it also feel like poor engine response?

Yep, poor engine response was exactly what I was experiencing. The hissing getting worse with acceleration sounds very familiar. Honestly, I wasn't able to diagnose it myself and ended up taking it to a workshop. They found a defect in the wastegate valve.
