Marea ABS Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Fiat Marea is experiencing ABS and traction control issues, with diagnostics indicating a speed signal fault. The owner suspects a defective control unit. A similar case with an Opel Insignia revealed a faulty ABS sensor input instead of a control unit issue. It is suggested to verify sensor readings thoroughly and consider a professional diagnostic to avoid unnecessary replacement of the control unit.

Thanks. I did check the sensor inputs, and they seem okay, but I'm getting intermittent readings. The diagnostic suggested the control unit, but before I spend a lot, did your Insignia point to the ABS unit at first?

Initially, the diagnostics pointed towards a potential control unit issue as well, but further investigation revealed the faulty sensor. Given the intermittent readings you're getting, I'd be careful about replacing the control unit. However, with those readings and the age of your vehicle, a workshop visit for a full diagnostic might be best. It cost me around 1000€ in the end.

Appreciate the insight. Sounds like I need to get it to a shop. Cheers!

I had similar ABS and traction issues with my 2012 Opel Insignia. The symptoms were almost identical, but it turned out to be a faulty ABS sensor input. Have you checked the sensor readings with a diagnostic tool? They can give bad values before failing.
