Marea Serpentine Belt Tensioner Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Fiat Marea with a gasoline engine is experiencing issues due to a faulty serpentine belt tensioner, causing the belt handover to fail. The problem is likely due to the defective tensioner itself, especially given the car's mileage of 162,478 km. The recommended solution is to have a qualified mechanic assess and repair the tensioner to prevent further complications. The issue was confirmed and resolved at a cost of 455€.

Ah, sorry, should have included that. It's the serpentine belt, and the car has 162478 km on it. Does that change anything?

Thank you for the additional information. Given the mileage and the symptoms you describe, a defective serpentine belt tensioner is indeed the likely culprit. I recommend consulting a qualified mechanic to assess the damage and perform the necessary repairs. Continuing to drive with a faulty tensioner could lead to further complications.

Thanks. I suspected as much. Dropped it off at the shop; they confirmed it. Cost me 455€, but at least it's sorted now.

I understand you're experiencing issues with your Fiat Marea's belt tensioner. To properly assist you, could you please clarify if the serpentine belt or the timing belt is affected? Furthermore, what is the car's mileage?
