Marea Shaking Steering Wheel
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Fiat Marea owner experienced issues with the steering wheel shaking and the power steering intermittently cutting out. The problem was suspected to be related to the steering angle sensor. After professional diagnostics, it was confirmed that the steering angle sensor's coding was faulty, and recoding the sensor resolved the issue.

I haven't checked the wheel alignment specifically, but there are no warning lights on the dashboard. So, what was the final issue with your Saab? Was it indeed the angle sensor? Any ideas about the faulty coding of the sensor?

Yes, in the end, it turned out to be a faulty steering angle sensor. After some diagnostics, the workshop said the sensor's coding was messed up. It might be worth getting yours checked out professionally if you suspect the same. Could also be the steering column.

Alright, thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed the steering angle sensor, as we suspected. Recoding solved the issue. The final bill was 195€.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Saab 9-3. Steering got heavy and the wheel shook sometimes. Have you checked if the wheel alignment is off or if the traction control/electronic stability program is acting up?
