Thanks for the tip. I've checked the fuses, all seem fine. Was the problem on your BMW also the cable or plug?

Nah, on my BMW, turned out to be a faulty motor in the steering column itself. But since you suspect a cable or plug, and the fuses are okay, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly. Could save you a lot of time and guesswork.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right, they diagnosed it properly and replaced a defective cable. The repair cost was 95€. Everything is working fine now!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old BMW 5 series. The electric steering adjustment just quit. Did you check all the fuses related to the steering system?
