Mark X fuel pump cable issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Toyota Mark X was experiencing starting difficulties, stalling, rough engine performance, a check engine light, and increased fuel consumption. The initial suspicion was a fuel pump issue, with fuses and relays checked and found to be fine. A similar case suggested faulty connections as a possible cause. Upon professional inspection, a defective fuel pump cable connection was identified and repaired, resolving the issues.

Fascinating! Could you elaborate on your experience? What steps did you take to diagnose the problem, and what ultimately resolved the issue? The increased fuel consumption is concerning, and I'm eager to understand how you tackled this challenge.

Well, I'm no mechanic, and honestly, after fiddling around and getting nowhere, I just took it straight to my local trusted workshop. They ran some tests and confirmed it was something with the fuel system. They were mentioning something about faulty connections too. I’d really recommend getting it checked out by professionals. It might save you a lot of headache.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Based on your advice, I went to a workshop. Turns out the fuel pump's cable connection was defective. The repair was 95€, including parts and labor. It runs perfectly now. Your input was greatly appreciated.

Oh man, that sounds eerily familiar! I have a Mark X as well, and I ran into almost the exact same problems a while back. Engine refusing to start sometimes, sputtering at stoplights, and that awful check engine light glaring at me. Higher fuel consumption too, I was going to the gas station like every other day! Could this be a common issue with the Mark X?
