Mark X Keyless Entry Failure

I'm having a weird issue with my 2015 Toyota Mark X, gasoline engine. It's got about 106k km on the clock. I keep getting a 'key battery low' warning. Now, the keyless entry is completely dead, and the car throws an error code related to it. Locking and unlocking is super unreliable now too. I'm guessing it's just the key fob battery needing a change, right? Has anyone else run into this?

I had a similar issue with my Mark X. I kept getting the low battery warning intermittently, and then one day the keyless entry just stopped working altogether. Is it possible that the battery is draining too quickly? I'm wondering if there's something else going on.

Interesting! How long did you have the car before this happened? I've only had mine for a couple of years, and I wouldn't expect the key battery to die so quickly. Did you try changing the battery yourself, or did you take it somewhere? Also, did your car have any other symptoms before the keyless entry failed completely?

I did change the battery myself initially, but the problem persisted. It started happening around the same mileage as yours, roughly. Eventually, I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they confirmed that the key fob itself was faulty, potentially due to a short circuit. They reprogrammed a new one, and everything has been fine since then.

Thanks for the info! I swapped out the battery, and everything seems to be working perfectly again. The error message is gone, and the keyless entry is back. Cost me 37€ for a new battery. Hopefully, it was just a simple fix and not something more serious like your situation. Appreciate the help!
