Mark X tank ventilation issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Toyota Mark X experienced a tank ventilation valve malfunction, leading to a check engine light and engine stalling at idle. The problem was suspected to be caused by clogged hoses within the EVAP system. After confirming similar symptoms with another owner, it was advised to have the vehicle inspected at a workshop. The issue was resolved by clearing the clogged hoses, restoring normal function.

I have visually inspected the accessible hoses. However, accessing the complete system for thorough inspection is proving difficult without specialized equipment. Were the symptoms identical in your case, specifically the stalling at idle?

Yes, exactly the same. The stalling only happened at idle, and the check engine light was always on. If you've checked what you can, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose the exact blockage with proper tools.

Thanks for confirming the identical symptoms. I had the vehicle inspected and repaired at a workshop. The issue was indeed clogged hoses within the tank ventilation system, as suspected. Total repair cost was 175€. The issue is now resolved.

I had a similar problem with my Mark X. Same symptoms – check engine light and stalling. I'd check all the hoses connected to the purge valve. It's a common issue. Have you checked those yet?
