MarkX Cold Start Rough Running

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2016 Toyota MarkX with a gasoline engine. It's got about 59523 km on the clock. Lately, it's been starting really poorly, especially when it's cold. The engine runs rough during the cold start phase too. Could this be related to the cold start injector? I haven't touched the fuel rail or tried any injector cleaning yet.

Poor starting and rough running when cold, eh? Sounds familiar. I've got a MarkX myself. Did you check for any engine misfires? Could be a faulty injector. Have you considered taking it to a mechanic to check the injection valve?

Misfires, huh? I haven't specifically checked for those, but the rough running is definitely there. If it is the injector, is it likely a simple cleaning job will fix it, or am I looking at replacement? I was hoping to avoid fuel injection work.

Cleaning might help temporarily, but if it's a defective injection valve, a new injector is probably the only real fix. I ended up needing a new one. Cost me about 515€ all in at the workshop. Just get it checked out; saves a lot of guesswork.
