MarkX Oil Pressure Warning Light

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2009 Toyota Mark X with a gasoline engine, around 116570 km on it. A warning light has come on in the speedometer, and the oil pressure light is also on sometimes. Could this be engine oil contamination from waiting too long for maintenance?

Oil pressure issues can come from a few things. Have you checked the oil level lately? When was the last oil and filter change? Oil sludge might have built up, blocking oil flow. Any oil leaks around the engine or under the car?

I checked the oil level, it's fine. The last oil change was about 14 months and 18000 km ago. Could oil sludge from the long interval be the reason for the oil pressure problem?

Given the time and mileage since the last oil change, and the warning lights, oil sludge is likely the cause. Skipping oil changes often leads to this. You could try an engine flush and oil change yourself, but I'd suggest a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and fix it to prevent more damage.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was oil sludge from the long maintenance interval, like you thought. They changed the oil and filter and did an engine flush. It cost 165€. The warning lights are off, and the engine runs smoothly now. Thanks again for your help.
