Massage seat in Opel Captiva from 2010 does not work: Possible defective switch

Hello folks! I'm a bit worried about my Opel Captiva from 2010 (gasoline engine, already has 186786 km on it). My last experience with a mechanic didn't go well, so I'm looking for advice here. My massage seat is currently not working. I suspect that the massage seat switch is faulty. Have any of you ever had similar problems and if so, how did it go with your mechanic? Thank you in advance!

Summary of the thread

The massage seat in a 2010 Opel Captiva is not functioning, and the suspected cause is a faulty switch. A similar issue with a cable connection was resolved in another Opel model by replacing defective cables and plugs, suggesting a straightforward repair process. The recommended solution is to have a mechanic diagnose and potentially replace the faulty switch or related components, which should be a standard procedure.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello, I have a 2013 Opel Astra and also had a cable/plug problem once, but not on the massage seat but on the headlights. It turned out that the cable connection/plug was defective. Fortunately, this was not a serious problem. After a detailed diagnosis, the fault was rectified by replacing the defective cables and plugs with new ones. This was a standard procedure in the workshop and didn't take very long. It will probably be similar with your massage seat. Hope this helps you.

Hey, thanks for your reply! I'm glad to hear that it wasn't a big problem for you. Can you remember how much the whole thing cost you? And has anything else come up since then or did everything go smoothly? I'm just a bit paranoid with my Captiva. Thanks to you!

Hey, no problem, I fully understand your concerns! Well, I had to pay €95.0 to repair the faulty cable connection/plug. And my Opel Astra has been running like clockwork ever since, with no further problems. After the mechanic repaired the massage seat switch, everything was fine. I think it should go just as smoothly with your Captiva. Don't worry, you'll get it sorted too!

Hello, thank you very much for your words and advice! Your experience has really helped me. I will take care of it tomorrow and bring my car in for repair. In hindsight, I think €95.0 is an acceptable price to get my massage seat working again. I hope everything goes as smoothly with my Captiva as it did with yours. Thanks again and enjoy your flawless Opel Astra!

First, check if there is a dedicated button on your dashboard to manually deactivate the start-stop system. It's usually marked with an "A" surrounded by an arrow. If pressing this button doesn't work, ensure that all conditions for the system to function are met, such as the battery being fully charged and the engine being at the correct temperature. If the issue persists, it might be a sign of a deeper electrical problem, and I recommend having a mechanic inspect it. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
