Massage seat in Peugeot 406 from 2002 does not work: Possible cause and experiences

Hey guys, I drive a Peugeot 406, year of construction 2002, gasoline, with 6072 KM on the speedometer. My massage seat no longer works. Last time at the mechanic there was a lot of trouble, so I'm cautious. I think it could be a faulty switch on the massage seat. Have any of you had anything like this before? How did it go with your mechanic? I would be happy to hear any experiences and tips.

Summary of the thread

A Peugeot 406 owner from 2002 is experiencing issues with a non-functional massage seat and suspects a faulty switch as the cause. Another individual shared a similar experience with a Peugeot 408, where the problem was due to a defective cable connection or plug, a known weak point in these models. The solution involved replacing the faulty parts, which resolved the issue without further complications. The advice is to find a reliable mechanic to address the problem, as it could be a straightforward fix.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had exactly the same problem with my 2005 Peugeot 408. The end of the story was a defective cable connection/plug. The mechanic said that this is a common weak point in these models. It wasn't a big deal, but I had to leave my car in the workshop for a few hours. They replaced the faulty parts and everything worked again. In my opinion, this could be the case for you too. Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for the valuable tip! That sounds like a good solution. Do you happen to remember how much it cost your mechanic? And have any unexpected problems arisen since the repair? It was really annoying last time, don't want to risk anything. Thank you!

Hello, glad I could help! I'm no longer sure, but I think I paid €95 to fix the faulty cable and plug. It was a real pain, but since then the massage seat has been running like a charm again. The mechanic also fixed the switch that was defective at the time. So far, no further problems have arisen since the repair. So, I would say there's nothing to worry about. The main thing is to find a decent mechanic that you have confidence in. Good luck, buddy!

Thanks, buddy! Your information is really helpful and gives me a lot of encouragement. I'll take your advice and find a reliable mechanic who can solve the problem for me. 95 sounds fair, as long as my massage seat works again afterwards, that's fine by me. I hope that no further problems arise. Have a good time. Cheers!
