Interesting. You mentioned timing issues. Did you experience anything specific related to that? And where exactly did you find the problem with the BMW – was it the sensor itself, or something else?

Yes, the timing was slightly off, leading to the rough running. In my case, it was the connector to the camshaft sensor that had corroded. Given the age of your Master, it's likely a similar situation. While you can try cleaning the contacts, I'd advise a visit to a workshop for a proper diagnostic check. They have the tools to pinpoint the exact location of the fault.

Appreciate the insight. I'll double-check the wiring again, but it sounds like a trip to the workshop is in order. Turns out it was exactly as you and the computer said – camshaft sensor cable was defective. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Runs like new now.

I had a similar issue with my old BMW 320d. Rough idling, camshaft sensor failure messages, timing issues. I would check the wiring harness thoroughly for any signs of damage or corrosion. Also, inspect the crankshaft sensor; sometimes they can cause similar symptoms.
