Master crankshaft camshaft reference error

I've got a 2018 Renault Master, diesel engine, with about 234,000 km on the clock. Recently the check engine light popped on, and I've noticed a definite drop in power. It feels sluggish, like it's not responding properly when I put my foot down, and my fuel consumption has gone up too. I plugged in an OBD reader and it's showing a 'Crankshaft to Camshaft Reference Value' error. From what I've read, it could be the crankshaft sensor? Has anyone else run into this?

I had something similar happen in my Master. Same symptoms – engine light, power loss, and the whole shebang. Did the OBD reader point specifically to the crankshaft sensor, or just the general reference error?

It just gave the general reference error. I'm guessing that the crankshaft sensor is the likely culprit, but i'm no mechanic. What was the issue with your van, and what did you end up doing to fix it?

The diagnostic pointed to a crankshaft sensor issue. Replacing it resolved the problem, but I strongly suggest you to go to a workshop, so they can check for other potential issues, and be sure that the sensor is the problem.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local mechanic and it was indeed the crankshaft sensor. They replaced it, and everything seems to be running smoothly now. The bill came to around 340€, but it was worth it to get the van back to normal.
