Master electronic parking brake failure

Hi, I've got a 2016 Renault Master diesel with about 151k on the clock. The electronic parking brake has gone belly up. The handbrake doesn't work at all, and there's an error message showing in the dash. Anyone seen this before? I've had a quick look but couldn't see anything obvious.

Hey, yeah, that's a common issue with those. The electric motor in the brake caliper is often the culprit. Have you checked the brake sensor connections? Sometimes a loose or corroded connection can trigger the warning light and disable the parking brake. Also, did you try to read out the error memory? That could give you a better hint on what's going on.

Thanks for the reply! I did try to read the error codes, and it's definitely related to the parking brake system. Is there any way to confirm that the electric motor is faulty before I start replacing parts?

Okay, so the error memory confirms the parking brake issue. If the motor is indeed the problem, you might hear a grinding or clicking noise when you try to engage or disengage the parking brake. Also, check the wiring harness going to the caliper for any damage. Honestly, to be 100% sure, you'd ideally need to test the motor with a multimeter, but if you don't have the tools or experience, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. A faulty parking brake is a serious vehicle safety issue.

Appreciate the help. Took it to the shop as suggested. They confirmed it was indeed the electric motor in the brake caliper. Total cost was about 505€ to replace. Thanks again!
