Master engine stalls at idle

I'm experiencing a perplexing issue with my 2005 Renault Master diesel. The check engine light illuminates intermittently, and the engine stalls unexpectedly at idle. My scanner indicates a fault within the fuel tank ventilation system. Considering the mileage is at 166082 km, could a defective activated charcoal filter be the culprit? I already checked the pressure sensor and purge valve.

I had something similar with my Master. Not sure about the year of yours, but those symptoms sound familiar. Have you had any issues with fuel efficiency, or noticed any unusual air flow when you open the fuel cap? Could be an EVAP system thing.

Indeed, fuel efficiency has decreased slightly. Can you elaborate on your specific issue and its resolution? Did it also point to an activated charcoal filter within the fuel tank ventilation system? Did you also face problems with the pressure sensor?

Okay, so mine was a pain. The garage guys mentioned something about a leak somewhere. Honestly, I just let them deal with it. Cost me a bit, but it sorted the problem right out. I'd say get it checked at a workshop.

Thank you for the insight! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I followed your advice and took it to a trusted mechanic. Turns out it was indeed a defective activated charcoal filter. The total repair cost, including parts and labor, came to 275€. Fuel efficiency is back to normal. I will keep an eye on the pressure sensor though.
