Master multifunction steering wheel failure
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Renault Master experienced a complete failure of the multifunction steering wheel, affecting radio and cruise control functions. The diagnostic tool indicated a circuit fault related to the steering wheel. Possible causes included connectivity issues, defective cable connections, or problems with the rotary coupling (clock spring). The solution involved taking the vehicle to a workshop, where a defective cable connection was confirmed and repaired.

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't have the exact code in front of me, but I remember it mentioning something about a circuit fault in the steering wheel. I did check the fuses, and they all seem fine. What else could cause a 'circuit fault' besides the cable?

Okay, a circuit fault definitely points towards the internal wiring or the rotary coupling (clock spring) inside the steering wheel. It supplies electricity to the various steering controls. Unfortunately, diagnosing that further usually requires specialized tools and knowledge to safely disassemble the steering wheel and test the components. Given that the error is pointing directly to the steering wheel and the fuses are okay, a cable or rotary coupling issue is the most probable cause. I would seriously consider taking it to a workshop. Messing with the steering wheel can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, especially with the airbag!

Thanks a bunch for the insight! You were spot on about the wiring. Took it to the workshop, and they confirmed a defective cable connection in the steering wheel. Repair cost me 95€, parts and labor, so it was worth having them do it safely. Appreciate the help!

Sorry to hear about your steering wheel woes. It definitely sounds like a connectivity problem. When the control module loses its signal, or receives a corrupted one, that is usually the case. Since you have an error stored, does it give any specific codes? It could be a sensor issue or, as you fear, a defective cable connection in the steering wheel itself. The steering controls themselves could also be defective but I doubt that is the case here. Have you checked the fuses related to the steering controls?
